Menu

Admins can manage the content of the Insight Hub menu from the Admin panel.

The menu includes configurations for the Black Area, which controls the hierarchical structure of categories and objects, and the Green Area, where admins can customize additional display settings, such as enabling the reporting system and defining how object types are shown.

Black area configuration

By default, the Insight Hub menu follows a five-level hierarchical structure. This structure can be organized using one of two configuration approaches:

  • Category-based – where the hierarchy is built using predefined categories.

  • Object-based – where the hierarchy is defined based on the objects themselves and their attributes.

To manage the menu:

  1. Admin first selects a module from the dropdown list. By default, the available four modules:
  • Business glossary
  • Report catalogue
  • Guides and policies
  • Technical assets
  1. Admin then chooses the preferred approach for configuring the selected module – either category-based or object-based.

  2. Once selected, the menu displays a list of hierarchical categories/objects corresponding to the selected module and configuration approach.

  3. Admin can manage relationships between categories or objects across all five levels.

  4. To expand and view the next level within a category, Admin clicks the arrow button in the corresponding category/object section.

  5. To make a category/object visible in the menu, Admin enables it by clicking the eye icon next to the category/object name.

Level rules:

Based on Categories:

  • First level - high-level categories//object without a parent are displayed. Admin can select which categories/objects to show in each module, where they will appear as green, unclickable titles at the top of the menu list.

  • Second level - Admin will see categories/objects with a defined parent.

  • Third, Fourth and Fifth levels - at these levels, Admin can access child categories or objects associated with the parent selected in the preceding level.

For example, Admin created three object types: Report, Report Page, and Indicator, where Report is the parent of Report Page, and Report Page is the parent of Indicator, forming a multi-level hierarchy. On the Insight Hub, a user can create an object called "Customer Report" with the type Report, then add a child object called "Page 1" with the type Report Page, and link it to "Customer Report". Next, the user can create an object called "Sales Trend" with the type Indicator, and associate it with "Page 1" as its parent. Finally, within the "Sales Trend" indicator, the user can define or link a Measure, completing the hierarchy from report to individual metric.

In this case, in the menu based on objects Admin will see the:

  • First level – displays the Report object type.
  • Second level – displays the "Customer Report" object.
  • Third level – displays the "Page 1" object.
  • Fourth level – displays the "Sales Trend" indicator.
  • Fifth level – displays the associated Measure.

This section provides additional configuration options for the three modules:
