Absorbing

The user with an Admin role can merge attributes and relations from one imported BI report into another existing BI report.

Absorbing means that the selected BI report becomes part of the report from which the absorbing action is started.

How it works

  1. As an Admin, import a report from the BI system (e.g. Power BI)
  2. Go to the Portal and open the object page of the report that will absorb another report
  3. Open the context menu and click Absorbing
  4. Start typing the name of the BI report to be absorbed (search starts from 3 symbols)
  5. Select the report from the search results and click Absorb
  6. Reload the page to see the updated report

Absorbing rules and behavior

  • Only reports imported from the BI system can be absorbed
  • Absorbing is performed from the page of the report that absorbs another report
  • The selected BI report is absorbed into the current report
  • Attributes and relations imported from the BI system are replaced
  • Attributes and relations created or edited manually are preserved
  • The history of changes is overwritten with the history of the absorbed report
  • Name and categories are not absorbed
  • All active business processes related to the absorbed report are stopped
  • The absorbed report is permanently removed from the system and cannot be restored

Result

  • BI-imported attributes of the absorbed report become related to the current report
  • BI-imported relations and related objects are linked to the current report
  • Existing manual attributes and relations of the current report remain unchanged
  • The current report keeps its name and categories
  • Metadata updates from the BI system will update the absorbed attributes and relations
